The Repeat Taker Wipeout– Over Half of the Applicants Taking the Bar Exam are Repeat Takers – And That is a Big Problem

Repeat takers are taking over the bar exam with over half of the applicants sitting for the bar exam are repeat takers.  In Florida, 68% of the applicants were repeat takers, in California 75% of the applicants were repeat takers sitting for the bar exam. All across the country we are seeing large numbers of repeat takers overtaking the number of first time takers in sitting for the bar exam.  That is a problem that must be addressed.

Repeat takers need to get help.

Most law graduates are under the false impression that the more times you take a state bar exam the greater your changes are to pass. In fact, it is just the opposite. When a repeat taker sits for a state bar, it is less likely that the repeat taker will be successful. The statistical proof is clear and convincing that repeat takers continuously do poorer on the bar exam than first time takers.

These statistical repeat taker numbers are a clear representation that repeat takers, on an average, only pass the bar exam at about a 25% rate – some states are even lower. Obtaining a bar exam tutor should be the number one goal for all repeat takers.
