Nationwide, the average score on the Multistate Bar Exam, which is the 200-multiple-choice-question portion of the test, fell to 140.4, the National Conference of Bar Examiners announced. That’s a decrease of 0.7 from July 2019, which was 141.1.  July 2018 average score on the MBE was 139.5, which represented a 34-year low. The Low Pass Rate of the Florida Bar Exam For Some Schools and For Repeat Takers and Why It Is Time to Get a Florida MBE Testing Institute Bar Exam Tutor

Monday, the Florida bar exam results came out and, as we know, it was a low pass rate for first time takers in some law schools. Yesterday, the pass rate for first time takers was 71.6%. These statistics only reflect first time takers. The repeat taker pass rate was shockingly much lower, considering that many of the applicants were repeat takers. There were 3,343 applicants who took the online remote Florida Bar Examination. 2,285 applicants were first time takers. Based on that statistics, 31.5% of the applicants were repeat takers.

As we can see by the statistics, the higher ranking schools did much better than the average of first time takers.  Schools like FIU (88.8%) and the University of Miami (82.5%) had pretty good pass rates. Unfortunately, the lower rank schools did not do very well. Schools like St. Thomas (50.8%) and FAMU (56.8%) had a little over half of the students to pass the bar exam.  In addition, we still don’t know how Cooley Law School in Tampa fared, although we know that traditionally, Cooley Law School students traditionally do not do well on the bar exam. The out of state applicants had a 62.5% pass rate.

The Florida Bar Exam Results Are Out - 32% Were Repeat Takers. The Florida Bar Exam Results By Law School

There were 3,343 applicants who took the online remote Florida Bar Examination. 2,285 applicants were first time takers. Based on that statistics, 31,5% of the applicants were repeat takers.

Florida Bar Exam Results Will Be Released on Monday, September 20th; Contact the MBE & UBE Testing Institute For Help

 The Florida Bar Exam Results for July 2021 will come out on Monday, September 20th. There is no magical time it comes out, although the results usually come out in the early morning, after 8 am.

Florida releases the numbers, not the names of the applicants and the site reveals just pass or fail of both Part A (the Florida section) and Part B (the MBE section) and the overall pass or fail. When you look up your number there will be 4 columns: your number, pass, pass, pass. The last pass is your ticket for your law license. You can fail a section of the Florida bar, and with enough carry over points, you can pass overall. So you will see some scores, like fail, pass, pass or pass, fail, pass. That’s ok, because that applicant has passed the Florida bar exam. Look at the final column and you’ll know whether you passed or failed.

North Carolina's Bar Exam Results and the Passing Score - The MBE & UBE Testing Institute Helps Repeat Takers for the UBE/North Carolina

The North Carolina Board of Law Examiners, after review and consideration of the technical issues encountered by a number of examinees during the remotely administered exam, the Board has decided to reduce the passing score for this examination administration from 270 to 268. 

North Carolina plans to post examination results to applicant secure portal accounts on or before September 17, 2021.

Michigan’s Bar Exam Goes to UBE for July 2022 and the MBE & UBE Testing Institute is Here to Help

 Michigan Supreme Court is moving to implement the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE) for Michigan bar exam applicants, effective for the July 2022 administration. The announcement was contained in a December 4 news release. Michigan will become the 40th jurisdiction to administer the Uniform Bar Examination. 

The UBE consists of three components:  the Multistate Bar Exam (a day of 200 multiple-choice questions on seven subjects to test subject-matter knowledge), the Multistate Essay Exam (six 30-minute essay questions on any of twelve listed subjects, emphasizing written analysis), and the Multistate Performance Exam (two 90-minute writing assignments that test lawyering skills). The UBE is uniformly administered and graded. It results in a portable score that can be transferred to other UBE jurisdictions.

Michigan has administered the MBE  but has not administered the MPT or MEE essays.  Michigan essays have been 20 minute essays in contrast to he UBE 30 minute essays.  Michigan currently lists 16 subjects, in contrast to the UBE’s 12 subjects.

Students at Michigan law schools who are open to practicing in other UBE jurisdictions will welcome the score-portability feature. Applicants can take the bar exam with the knowledge that they can transfer their score to almost anywhere a job offer might take them and a failing score can be transferred to jurisdictions with a lower passing score.

The Supreme Court has not announced what the passing score will be. The UBE has a maximum of 400 points. Other jurisdictions have set their passing scores between 260 (5 jurisdictions) and 280 (1 jurisdiction). The most common is 270 (14 jurisdictions). Neighboring Illinois’s is 266; Ohio’s is 270. Indiana is going with 264.

Also still to be revealed is whether a separate test or course on local law will be required. Currently, somewhat less than half of UBE jurisdictions have added a separate jurisdiction-specific test, course or combination of the two.

The UBE Bar Exam Results Will Be Released Soon by Some States Like North Carolina, Arkansas, Kansas, Indiana, Washington

 The wait is almost over for some UBE bar exam takers. It is now September 1st and some states will begin releasing their bar exam results.

Some early release states include North Carolina, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, New Mexico, West Virginia, Indiana, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Vermont, North Dakota, Washington to name a few.
