The New York Bar Exam and Foreign Educated Lawyers’ Statistics

There was a record number of foreign educated candidates sitting for the bar exam in July 2018. This accounts for 33% of all candidates who sat for the July exam.

The New York bar exam results for July 2018 indicated that foreign educated lawyers passed at a first time rate of 50% and that all foreign educated lawyers passed at a 41% rate. These pass rates were a 7% drop from July 2017 when 57% of first time takers failed the bar exam, and all foreign educated lawyers passed at a 48%.

As can be seen, the pass rate is dismal for foreign educated lawyers. That’s why, before sitting for a bar exam, foreign educated lawyers need an MBE & UBE Testing Institute bar tutor. Working with a tutor will dramatically improve your chances of passing. An applicant needs to learn to write on the bar exam subjects to both understand the law and to develop a writing structure/ Above all else, start early.  The MBE & UBE Testing Institute has a specialized tutoring service especially for foreign educated lawyers.
