The Texas Bar Exam Results and a 68% Repeat Taker Failure Rate

The Texas bar exam results for February 2018 have been released. Texas had an overall pass rate of 45%.  The first time takers pass rate was 60% and the repeat takers' pass rate was 32%.  That is a 68% failure rate for repeat takers.

The repeat taker pass rate is astonishing low. For Texas law schools, none of the repeat taker rate reached more than 54% (SMU).  Baylor’s repeater pass rate was 40%, STCL Houston was 38%, St. Mary’s was 34%, Texas A&M’s repeat takers pass rate was 21%, Texas Tech’s was 33%, TSU’s repeat takers pass rate was 23%, Univ. of Houston’s was 50%, U of North Texas was 41% and the repeat takers pass rate for the U of Texas was 50%.  The non-Texas law school’s repeat taker pass rate was 29%., The TBE attorney’s repeat taker pass rate was 26% and the foreign educated lawyers’ repeat taker pass rate was 26%.

These low numbers for repeat takers are atrocious and must be rectified. For those repeat takers, you need help right away so you can prepare for the July bar exam.  Don’t be discouraged, get right back on the horse and get busy.
