Last week we discussed the new changes in Illinois minimum passing score.
On March 27th, after discussion with the deans and Supreme Court Justices, the Illinois Board of Admissions has revised yet again the minimum passing score.
Effective
for the July 2015 bar examination, the minimum passing score is set at 266 (out
of a possible 400) - a 2-point increase from the February 2015 bar
examination. This passing score will
remain in effect through the February 2017 bar examination. Effective for the July 2017 bar examination,
the passing score is provisionally set at 268.
Prior to that examination, the Deans and Board will review the results
of the examinations with the 266 passing score and will make their
recommendations to the Court.
The good
news is that it appears that the Board of Admissions has backed down on their
attempt to raise the minimum passing score to 268 for July 2015 and 272 for
July 2016. Students still must be prepared for a 2 point increase for July 2015. Bar Professors can help those repeat takers who need those point increases.
